Başak Bolluk kılıç

During my neurology education, which began in 2001, I focused on Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders. I completed my assistant training at the center where Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) was first introduced in Turkey. Throughout my education, I spent three months under the supervision of Professor Eduardo Tolosa at the University of Barcelona School of Medicine, which is one of the most active centers worldwide in DBS and Movement Disorders Treatment.

After completing my residency, I started working with DBS cases at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine. Subsequently, I joined Medipol University Faculty of Medicine’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center (PARMER) as a DBS specialist neurologist, alongside Associate Professor Ali Zırh, a neurosurgeon renowned for his expertise in DBS, having conducted the highest number of cases in Turkey (approximately 1300 cases). PARMER has achieved the distinction of being recognized as the leading DBS center in Turkey and the neighboring region, with an annual average of 200-250 cases.

Due to its capacity to cater to international patients, perform a high volume of cases, and provide academic education on DBS, St. Jude and Boston Scientific have been designated as DBS centers of excellence. During my tenure at Medipol University Faculty of Medicine, I provided DBS programming training to assistants during DBS and postoperative follow-up
